Lenticular Sculpture: Nature and Animals as a Continuum
This sculpture uses a lenticular lens to explore nature and animals as a continuum. The image, suspended within a brass frame, continuously transforms with changes in perspective due to the lenticular printing effect. This fleeting capture of a wave’s moment resembles a Rorschach test, inviting diverse interpretations from viewers. As you move behind the piece, you discover that deer hide forms the outline of the image. Animal and natural phenomena become two sides of the same coin, embodying and being embodied, captured on a single plane as a continuous relationship.
In the “Bone and Extension” series, the frame is seen as a human-made social structure or discipline. The suspended nature and animals are considered an extension of humanity, hinting at the interconnectedness of organic beings and the structures humans create.
The title, “Orifice,” refers to holes or openings found in both natural and artificial objects, and also signifies a place where fluid streams or jets out.
